5 Tips To Prepare Your Furniture For Winter

Whether you live in a mild or harsh winter climate, outdoor furniture covers prolong the life of your furniture and keep it looking like new. Cold temperatures make your furniture’s joints expand and shrink as it gets cold and warms up. So, prep now to ensure everything is ready to go when the warm weather is back!

Follow these steps to keep your outdoor furniture protected through cold weather:

1. Clean your outdoor furniture

Giving your patio furniture a good clean will keep it in good condition over the winter and will make it easier to look after when you bring it out in spring. Learn how to clean your outdoor furniture depending on the type of material it is made of.

Pro tip: Check out our blog on “how to care for your outdoor furniture” for cleaning tips here.

2. Cover your furniture

Furniture covers keep your outdoor furniture from getting dusty, dirty, and wet. If you keep your furniture outside, covers will prevent rain and frost damage and keep furniture from moulding or rusting.

Pro tip: Our furniture covers are 100% waterproof and designed for the harsh Australian climate. Check out the range here.

3. Make sure your furniture covers are clean

There’s little point in putting a dirty cover on clean furniture. Clean your covers with warm water or a damp cloth. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the cover if necessary.

Pro tip: Our furniture covers are super easy to maintain and clean. You can just wipe the surfaces clean with a damp cloth.

4. Check on your furniture and covers throughout the winter

With our furniture covers, your furniture should be kept safe and clean throughout the winter. But it’s always a good idea to check once a month to make sure everything is still secure. While checking, give your covers a quick dusting so dirt doesn’t get on the furniture when you take them off for spring.

Pro tip: Our furniture covers come with cord locked drawstrings, which allows you to tightly secure the cover against the furniture.

5. Bring your outdoor furniture inside

If you have the space and your winters are harsh, you may want to store your patio furniture in a shed, garage, or your basement. We would still recommend covering your furniture even when stored inside to keep it protected against dust.
